Vetusta Morla is a rock sextet that originated in the late 90's and that tries to go beyond the genre stereotypes. First in an aesthetic sense, adding bells and rhythmic patterns beyond the rock tradition, integrating them without seeking a merger or miscegenation. Second, understanding the way in which the band was presented to the public and manages its creation. A journey from absolute anonymity to be one of the most recognizable groups of independent scene in Spain, without help of any record company, which means an inspiration in the music industry system. Considering music as an end itself and not as a means to something else and understanding it as a way of personal and emotional adventure rather than as a form of business has been the perspective that has shaped the idiosyncrasies of Vetusta Morla.

Paradoxically (or perhaps not), this perspective has led the group to the top of the charts and to hang the sign of “no tickets” at their tours around the country and also in countries like Mexico and Argentina, and to receive three Music Awards or four UFI Awards, among others.

The two albums that Vetusta Morla has published until today, Un Día en el Mundo (A Day in the World) (2008) and Mapas (Maps) (2011) have been edited by Pequeño Salto Mortal, their own label, created with the aim of offering a secondary road, another way out of the usual and standard industry channels, and also to avoid the paralysis of the sector. They have tried to join Internet in every work, making a direct use of social networks and carrying out actions intended for use new technologies positively. Actions such as creating a Facebook application called Explorador de Mapas (Maps Explorer) or the initiative to allow listening their full albums stream, which earned them more than 50,000 visitors the first day of launch.
