Victor Gonzalez, was born on December 25, 1971 in Madrid. He studied engineering at the Naval Polytechnic University of Madrid. Since childhood he had a penchant for video game consoles and first 8-bit computers, from which he was taking his first steps in programming. He had been always interested in the computers world and in particular its application to the world of digital effects and simulation. The beginning of the special effects in movies (years 80-90) and the use of technology still rudimentary at the time were exciting to him. During that time he devoted himself to teach himself programming techniques until reach the university. His studies eventually allow him to combine the knowledge acquired with mathematics and advanced physics, especially in the field of fluids, with his passion for the virtual world.

In 1996 he began his career at the company Infográfica REM S.A. where he learned how computer graphics market works. The company developed products aimed at the market, some of which Victor was actively involved. There he met his future partner Ignacio Vargas, with a very similar trajectory. In 1998 he founded with Ignacio Vargas, Next Limit Technologies. In the beginning they just had two computers and an Internet connection.

RealFlow , their first project was the product of fluid simulation for the film industry market.

From experience they knew there was a need to create new digital effects and therefore new software products. They had all the elements requirements: expertise in both, engineering and computer graphics world, and passion for innovate. In a short time RealFlow began to spread through the network and that allowed the company to grow.

Today this product is sold worldwide and has been used in numerous ads and movies such as “Poseidon,” “Ice Age” or “The Lord of the Rings. “ In 2008 it received the “Technical Achievement Award” (“Academy Award”) of the American Film Academy in the original creation of the RealFlow product, which was the first on simulating fluids on the big screen. Other awards are a Double Award IST(Information Society of Technology - Europe) in 2006 to RealFlow and Maxwell the”Segundo de Chomón” award from Spanish Film Academy.

Twelve years later the company has 40 people in Madrid and occupies a privileged position and an international profile, with the creation of advanced software for visual simulation and also scientific use. Next Limit has three products: RealFlow( fluids simulator), Maxwell Render (visual simulator) and XFlow (simulator for engineering). Today, Victor Gonzalez serves as CEO of the company. Together it is not uncommon his scientific talks and collaboration with Universities, which given his extensive experience and particular view of the simulation provides a very valuable perspective in the community both films, as in science.
