Workshop. Design - Usability

Optiva Media - ONO - NAGRA
Building multi-screen applications
- Tuesday, November 22 2011
- Time: 19:15 - 20:00
- Room: T2
In this workshop we want to reflect on the complexity of developing audiovisual applications on top of different consumer devices. In particular we will focus on applications that enable search, view, and recommendation of movies and channels in mobile devices, connected TVs, tablets and decoders. We will explain the origin of the complexity, and will propose ways to deal with it successfully. We will outline which are programming paradigms to overcome these difficulties and, with the help of the appropriate tools, reduces the time and effort required for development. We will explain with an example, how these tools allow to build the user interfaces and to implement the logic of business, in an easy and intuitive way. This is achieved thanks to the level of abstraction provided by the tools. The workshop will finish with a practical demonstration of how build a video on demand application in 230 lines of code
