Busuu.com: the language learning community - from 0 to 5 million users in only 3 years

This workshop’s objective is to share busuu.com’s growth, from 0 to 5 million users in 3 years, making it the most active language learning community worldwide. 15,000 people register daily and more than 5mio users download our apps. busuu.com was awarded with The Europas TechCrunch 2011 in Best Education start-up, Best European Web Application, Best Learning Startup 2010, Red Herring 100, European Language Label EC, AlwaysON Global 250, Innovator CeBIT, was finalist of the BBVA Open Talent and Internet 09.  The viral marketing campaigns, Silbogomero and Save Busuu, were awarded the Silver Lion at the festival of Cannes, and two Sol at the Festival de Iberoamerica. busuu.com is an international project (80% of its traffic is outside of Spain) developed in IE Business School, Spain, by 2 foreigners with private funding. It recently raised its capital by welcoming on board Martin Varsavsky. busuu’s target is to reach 6 million users in 2011 and 50 million in 2015 becoming the "facebook" of language learning
