This proposal presents the main results of the survey SITUATION OF THE INDEPENDENT MUSIC INDUSTRY IN SPAIN, coordinated by professors Luis A. Albornoz and Ignacio Gallego (Journalism and Audiovisual Communication Department, University Carlos III of Madrid). The survey, realized with the support of the Unión Fonográfica Independiente (UFI), was realized between March and April of 2011 to near 70 labels and distributors. The presentation sets out the activities developed by labels of the indie sector, responsible for 80% of the new features published in Spain. The survey analyzed the following items: music styles, publication formats, export markets, promotion tools and the labels presence in internet and social networks, among others. The presentation of the research by professors Albornoz and Gallego, will be complemented by the director of the International Music Observatory, Daniel Granados
